The most likely reason for the ripples to appear along the jet surface
is that you are attempting to represent a surface of spherically
shaped object on the cartesian grid. We had seen this in our jet
simulations.

You can minimize this effect by either (1) carefully defining the
inlet (using sub-cell resolution to calculate the overlap between your
cartesian zones and edge of the inlet defining fluxes directly instead
of state inside ghost zones), and (2) increasing resolution in your
simulation.

(1) will help you a bit while (2) seems crucial. Try to run at
lower/higher resolution and see if the pattern (number of ripples
along the circumreference) differs. It will likely vary.
