- Did you run "./resetup" to do this re-setup ?

If yes, try again using the full 

  ./setup ...

command, after cd to the top directory.

- Make sure your directory is writable, and that you have enough disk 
space (!).

- Does the directory sites/plieades (sic) exist and contain a Makefile.h ?
  (Or have you set up an alias that points "plieades" (sic) to the proper
  subdirectoty?)

- Have you done any unusual customizations, in your Makefile.h or 
elsewhere?
   
Let me know if any of these hints help.

If not, we may need more information to track down the problem.
