There is a python module developed by Milad Fatenejad here:
https://github.com/icksa/opacplot2/
that handles a wide variety of EoS/Opacity formats.

A simple example can be found here:
https://github.com/rth/opacplot2/blob/luli/examples/eos_ses_he.py

I'm not sure if the OPAL is currently handled though. If it is not you
would have to find/write a parser in python for it and use the provided
 writeIonmixFile method to write it to the IONMIX4 format.
