Its happened to both my colleague and myself with visit built this way on Ubuntu. We both fixed it by deleting all the install files and folders and starting the install script again from scratch. I just checked and on the machine I'm on there's also VisIt 2.6.2.
There, I can open the files once I select "FLASH" as the file format
for "open file as type". However, in the installed version of VisIt
2.7.2 there's no "FLASH" option in the list of available file
formats.<br>
