If I recall correctly, FLASH reader requires installing HDF5
library. Try adding<br>
<br>
--hdf5 --szip<br>
<br>
to your build_visit command line.<br>
<br>
As someone already suggested, downloading and installing a pre-built
package is the best option unless, of course, no package is
available for your platform. <br>

without any parameters and then open my
FLASH generated plot or checkpoint file
without specifying the file type, I get
errors. However, if I select the file I
want to open and then choose FLASH from
the filetype list (open file as type),
