And, I'm sorry to hear you're running into obstacles. I'll see what I can do to help you get back in the fast lane.<br class=""><br class="">Chapter 3 of the user guide (<i class="">Setting up new problems) </i>is quite detailed, but it may be easy to miss the big picture. In my experience, the simplest way to learn how to make a new simulation is to base it off of one of the included example simulations, which are located in .../source/Simulation/Simulati<wbr class="">onMain.<br class=""><br class="">My advice is to do two things in parallel: <b class="">1) </b>Read through Chapter 3, and <b class="">2) </b>Read through the corresponding simulation files of an example related to what you're trying to create. Also, <b class="">3) </b>Have a Fortran90 reference handy.<br class=""><br class="">Let's say I want to create a laser-plasma simulation, but I don't know how to start. In this case, I'll look at a related example, the "LaserSlab" simulation (examine the files under .../SimulationMain/LaserSlab). By the time I finish reading Ch. 3, all the while investigating the files of "LaserSlab", I will have the knowledge to make a completely new simulation.<br class=""><br class="">As an example, here's how you could make a modified version of the "LaserSlab" simulation. Copy the .../SimulationMain/LaserSlab directory and its contents into a new subfolder:<br class="">(e.g. .../SimulationMain/ScottSlab)<br class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">When you're done editing the files, you can build it just like any of the examples, with:<br class=""></div><div class="">./setup -auto ScottSlab [options]<br class=""></div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">Let me know how this works! I'll also ask around the Flash Center to see if any basic tutorial currently exists. And, if anyone has already made a tutorial that you'd like to share, let us know!<br class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">Best,<br class=""><br class=""></div>Scott<br class=""><div class="gmail_extra"><br clear="all" class=""><div class=""><div class="m_334339033337193549m_-2283167308102534205gmail_signature" data-smartmail="gmail_signature"><div dir="ltr" class=""><div class=""><div dir="ltr" class=""><div class=""><div dir="ltr" class=""><div class=""><div dir="ltr" class=""><div class=""><div dir="ltr" class=""><div class=""><div dir="ltr" class=""><div class=""><div dir="ltr" class=""><br class="">Scott Feister, Ph.D.<br class="">Postdoctoral Researcher, Flash Center for Computational Science<br class=""></div><div class="">University of Chicago, Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics<br class=""></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div><div class=""><div class="h5">
