[FLASH-BUGS] failure to write plt files (fwd)

Leonid, this bug is already in our bug tracker, but at the moment, we do
not have a fix.  It seems to be exaggerated when the timestep decreases by
a large amount, right when the plotfile was supposed to be produced.  I've
added you comments to the bug report.
