I'm glad you could figure it out. We have tested hypre versions
2.7.0b, 2.8.0b and 2.9.0b with FLASH.

I would also recommend that you use the latest released FLASH code if 
possible, FLASH 4.2.2.

At some point we had problems with a combination of FLASH and the 
latest hypre version (2.9.0b), but FLASH 4.2.2 will work with all three
hypre versions listed above.
