Hi Arthur,
Maybe you can try
use_auxEintEqn=.true.
eintSwitch = 1e-4
together with
irenorm =1
It works for me sometime.

Dear Flash users,
As I have observed some consequent differences between the results of my FLASH simulations between 4.7.1 and 4.8, I am looking at variations of my case. However, I met an issue with the 4.8 version that I don´t observe with the 4.7.1 version.
The case are identical, they do have the exact same flash.par, Simulation_adjustEvolution.F90, Simulation_customizeProlong.F90, Simulation_data.F90, Simulation_init.F90 and Simulation_initBlock.F90.
In the 4.8 run, I do get very quickly a message error:
abort_message: [Eos] Error: too many iterations in Newton-Raphson
which is due to negative dE/dt detected.
I tried to set irenorm =1 and to increase eos_max Newton and eos_tolerance as seen on the archived thread ( [ https://flash.rochester.edu/pipermail/flash-users/2022-November/008229.html | https://flash.rochester.edu/pipermail/flash-users/2022-November/008229.html ] )
If one of you has an idea of the change made between versions that would cause that and/or have a fix for the Newton-Raphson issue, I would be very interested
I here joined the .par file and the log files for both 4.8 and 4.7.1
