Hi Abdekhak -
I understand that by "resolving" you mean recovering analytically
established relations for the instability. It will actually take a
little bit more than that since to model validation actually requires
knowledge of both observational and numerical errors. So when using
FLASH, you want to put error bars on, for example, growth rate estimate.
Then you will be in position to see whether you numerical results along
with their error bars match observations within the corresponding
observational errors. A procedure of comparing those results inolves
certain metric, and defining that metric is not always an easy task.
Good amount of information is given in a book by Oberkampf and Roy,
https://a.co/d/fqyXOTB
which I strongly recommend.
Hope this helps -
Tomek
