You shouldn’t manually edit that F90 file or setup_params. In your setup command, you just need to include ed_maxPulseSections=21 and then it should work. I just tested with this full setup command, and 21 sections were created:

./setup -auto LaserSlab -2d +cartesian +pm4dev species=cham,targ +mtmmmt +uhd3t +mgd mgd_meshgroups=6 +laser ed_maxPulseSections=21 +hdf5typeio

Hello all,

I'm having difficulty adding extra sections to a laser pulse. I can have up to 20 but trying to set a pulse with 21 or more gives me this error:

  There is not enough storage for the laser pulses sections.
  Increase the maximum number of pulses sections using the
  ed_maxPulseSections =<number of sections> setup option

However, cleaning the object folder and re-setting up with a higher value here gives the same error. Just trying 21 sections, I've added the parameters ed_power_1_21 and ed_time_1_21 for the extra pulse sections to rp_initparameters.F90 and setup_params, to no avail.

How can I get a laser pulse with more sections?

I'm still using the LaserSlab module, FLASH version 4.7.1.
