Dear Sir/Madam
We recently conducted an inertial confinement fusion (ICF) experiment at
the National Ignition Facility (NIF), LLNL. Before simulating our
experimental shot, I am attempting to reproduce the results of a previous
experiment with similar conditions. In particular, the experiment reported
by J. S. Ross et al., Phys. Rev. E 91, 021101, is very similar to ours.
I have successfully installed the FLASH code and am now trying to reproduce
the published results using a 1D FLASH simulation.
Currently, I am facing two main challenges:
1. Equation of State (EOS): Validating the EOS models for different
materials, including high-density carbon (HDC), deuterium (D), tritium (T),
and helium-4 (⁴He).
2. Opacity: Identifying and validating appropriate opacity models or tables
for these materials.
If anyone in this group has experience with these topics or could provide
relevant suggestions or references, it would be extremely helpful. We would
also be happy to arrange a discussion to explore these issues in more
detail.
One additional question: Is it possible to obtain the neutron energy
spectrum from an ICF experiment using a 1D FLASH simulation? If so, what
would be the appropriate approach?
Any suggestions, references, or guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks and regards
Sutanu
